There are so many beautiful places to visit, both inland and on the coast. Here are some of our favourites.
Aberaeron
This beautiful Georgian harbour town is famous for its colourful Regency houses. There are lots of independent shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants, many Award winning. Try the honey ice-cream from The Hive, and fish & chips from The Celtic (we grab a bench overlooking the harbour and watch the sun go down-bliss!)
We love to walk on the coastal path from the top of the South beach towards New Quay-stunning views.

New Quay
This is a really wonderful, traditional pretty seaside town. It has FOUR beautiful beaches! Only the Harbour beach has dog restrictions (from May 1 to Sept 30). Sit on the harbour wall where you can regularly watch the bottlenose dolphins, or take a dolphin spotting boat trip. Cardigan Bay is famous for having the largest group of resident dolphins in the UK. At low tide you can walk down past the lifeboat station on to Cei Bach beach, our favourite dog-friendly beach, which stretches for a mile – stunning! This beach can also be reached from the far end by parking in Llanina Woods (can get busy in Summer).
Cardigan Bay Watersports operates just next to the lifeboat station, where kayaks and paddle boards may be hired by the hour.
New Quay has many lovely restaurants and cafes and a famous gelato parlour, Crème Pen Cei, where the ice cream is made on the premises and is amazing (try the blackberry crumble & custard!).

Aberystwyth
We are big fans of ‘Aber’. Walk along the prom, ride up Constitution Hill on the Cliff Railway-the longest funicular electric cliff railway in Britain to enjoy panoramic views of Aberystwyth and Cardigan Bay. Visit the pier-we love the Inn on the Pier, especially during the winter months when we watch the starlings flying in to roost underneath for the night.
Ceredigion Museum is based in a beautifully preserved old Edwardian Music Hall-free admission with lots of interesting exhibits, and it also holds concerts and events.
There are lots of independent eateries from fish & chips, to tapas at Ultracomida, Medina for an excellent Mediterranean lunch or dinner (we love it here!), or grab a coffee and delicious cake at Ridiculously Rich by Alana by the harbour.
Tanybwlch beach, just to the south is fabulous for dog walks along the River Ystwyth (take the road next to the fire station).

West Wales Coastal Path
There are many beautiful walks along the coastal path along Cardigan Bay, such as the walk from Aberaeron to New Quay, or the circular walk at Cwmtydu. We provide local books and OS maps for your use while you are on holiday.

Hafod Estate
About a 35 minute drive from Clare Cottage, it is THE most stunning place to visit. It has 200 hectares of woodlands, parkland, restored historic gardens, gorges, bridges and waterfalls. It is simply breathtaking all year round… and free! We love it here!

Mwnt
Mwnt is a fabulous place to visit. This rural secluded National Trust beach is a must. There is a sheltered sandy beach, beautiful coastal walks and a tiny white church. Fantastic scenery and wildlife to spot, including Dolphins and Seals. There is a large National Trust carpark and a small cafe.
